Why choose CycleGranada ?

As cyclists ourselves we know there are multiple locations across Europe and beyond to choose from. All have appeal....good weather, well-surfaced roads with variety, nice climbs and descents.  The decision you have to make is one of suitability. Do these destinations offer good facilities, weather and accommodation? Is it expensive to stay and is there a good choice of food and restaurants that are not too expensive? Do you want a ride-guide or do you want to focus on your own riding, touring or training on solo, planned routes? Do you want a cycling holiday or a bespoke training camp? Are you coming with a group or solo? Are you a recreational rider or a more competitive racer?

We understand that a cycling holiday may mean very different things to different people. That's why we take the time to discuss your preferences and needs in order to ensure your time with us is a personalised one that you enjoy and get the most from. Your cycling stay is then planned with you in mind so that you are 100% satisfied and get the most out of the experience.

An experience is what we believe you will have. Whilst the riding is important we also believe that your time off the bike is just as important. That's why we offer other experiences and packages that will complement and enhance your stay. For example, we can arrange a trip to Granada to see the many sights of this wonderful city, such as the Alhambra Palace and the Albaicin Quarter, vary your sports package to include trail running or hiking or even arrange a sports massage to ease those muscles after your ride. A variety of evening entertainment can also be arranged which will allow you to get a taste of the local Andalucian culture. Whatever you require we are here to help.

Below are some other reasons why we believe CycleGranada is your best choice.

The location

Alhama de Granada is an ancient spa town that sits 900 metres above sea level and so benefits from fresh mountain air. Located in an area known as El Poniente Granadino, it's the very heart of Andalucia. Everywhere you look the view stretches as far as the eye can see and takes in gentle hills, both green and olive tree lined valleys and craggy mountain peaks.  The Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, not to mention the Sierra Nevada, make the area unique.

The roads

The roads here are exceptionally quiet and offer a peaceful change to the UK and most parts of Europe. Smooth, rolling tarmac is one of the benefits you will appreciate here. We're based inland and the vast majority of roads are quiet with little traffic to contend with.  The drivers you do meet  are incredibly respectful, providing room whilst overtaking, often giving you a 'pip' on the horn to let you know they are about to overtake.

The culture

The surrounding towns and villages offer the chance to see real Spanish life at it's very best. The people of Andalucia a exceptionally friendly and will welcome you with warmth and unrivalled hospitality. The charm and wonder of the region is truly and special and here you will find many past traditions still play an important part of everyday life. Depending on when you visit you may experience any one of the many Fiestas, Parades or Carnivals in the town.

Climbs

Surrounding the town you will find rolling roads that reflect the landscape. Numerous climbs of varying length can be found in the valleys close by and the mountain ranges of Sierra Tejeda, Almijara & Alhama and the Sierra Nevada offer up more challenges routes. To the north the Sierra Parapanda links the town of Illora with Montefrio and nearby Malaga province allows you to take on the many climbs which head inland from the coastal areas.

Varied terrain

The landscape of both Granada and Malaga province offer an unbelievable playground to all types of cycling. Be it road, forest or mountain trails, the surrounding countryside has everything that a cyclist could want. Although we focus more on road cycling we are cyclists at heart and will ride anything on 2 wheels ! Bring your mtb or gravel bike and explore off the beaten track. Take a tour and cycle at your leisure, taking in the delights of the region.

Weather

Well we are based in southern Spain so the sun shines ! In fact, on average, there are over 300 days of sunshine per year. Being inland we also have the mountain breeze in the hotter months so you can ride all year round if you choose. The region also benefits from the changing seasons. Springtime brings with it the colour of bright blue skies, blossom trees and wild flowers. The snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada providing a stunning feature in the distance.
